Let's not face another epidemic in Nepal!

10 May, 2010

As the major tragedy happened last year in Nepal from the Diarrhoea/Cholera epidemic, more than 300 innocent people were killed. It became big news in media and also became a hot cake. But as time passed out, it simply cooled down, though lots of responses were mobilized to control this problem from government as well as non-government sector. Paschim Paaila made a highly appreciated effort that time.

Simple things like lack of safe drinking water, improper personal hygiene and environmental sanitation etc. are causing epidemic in Nepal. One time solution for such problem is insufficient because nobody can say the epidemic will not repeat this year. News reports have begun to cover the outbreak of diarrhea cases in few districts this year too. Hence, it’s high time we take some concrete actions to prevent the spread of diarrhea/cholera.

In this context, "Paschim Paaila" organized a "Photo Exhibition" at The Longest Toilet Queue 2010 main event. The main objectives of this exhibition were to highlight last year's Diarrhoea/Cholera Epidemic in the Mid and Far western part of Nepal, explain Paschim Paaila campaign’s interventions during this epidemic, and deliver messages to prevent future epidemic. More than 5000 people observed the photos, in which all of them got the message and positive feeling to prevent the next Diarrhoea/Cholera Epidemic in Nepal.

‘Let’s not face another epidemic in Nepal’ – says Paschim Paaila team requesting youth volunteers to work together to stop next epidemic in Nepal.
